How to prepare for plastic surgery and anti-aging skin care treatments

If you're like most people today you have probably thought of or know of someone who has thought of or is thinking about having plastic surgery or some sort of anti-aging related skin care treatment. To make sure you have the best possible experience and results with this treatment or surgery there a few steps that you need to take.

First don't ever skimp on doctors or surgeons to save money. This is a decision that you will most likely regret later. And this may not even entail having surgeries done in the United States. Many people, nowadays, to save a little money for thousands of dollars even on skin care treatments and plastic surgery are electing to have it done overseas in countries like India or Brazil where it can be one half of the price or cost of a similar treatment or surgery in the United States.

The reasoning behind this is simple as for about half the price you get the treatment and on top that you get a free or low-cost vacation and spa for recovery purposes. In many of these cases you can even take a spouse or other family member with you for little or no extra cost. Sounds great doesn't it? But the problem here is that there are many other factors you may not be considering like what are your legal rights if something goes wrong in the other country. What happens if something goes wrong during her surgery and it becomes a much more expensive procedure?

Have you grown tired of expensive skin care products that just don't provide the results you want?

And then of course there is the fact of what is the quality of the operating room and surgeons who will actually be performing surgery on you. Here in the US he is a much greater chance of having a better quality doctor or surgeon and higher cleanliness. When you go to another country you have no idea once you're out from the anesthesia as to what could occur and what safeguards are in place if something should go wrong. In some countries you manage and be able to sue if the procedure is botched.

And what happens if your one-week recovery time and procedure in India turns out to be a six-month recovery in India due to a botched procedure? As you can see what could've been a money saving procedure could all of a sudden become a major expense above and beyond what it cost in the US to have it done properly. Now I'm not saying that all overseas surgeons are lower qualified than their US counterparts. As a matter of fact I'm sure there some that are even higher qualified and many of them are trained here at the same US hospitals and medical schools, but the odds of you having the same level of service as here in these other countries and are less protections available to you as a foreigner in another country.

So number one, you need to do appropriate research in finding doctors or surgeons that you are comfortable with, are experienced in this surgery or treatment that you want done, and lastly that fit in your budget plans. It's no good to have a doctor that has the lowest price if he only performs these surgeries once in his lifetime. This would be similar to hiring an attorney to defend you in court that is never spent a day in court. You need to find someone that their mainstay is the surgery that you want done and similar surgeries or treatments.

This surgeon or doctor will then also tell you what you need to do prior to the surgery which will probably include that you do not eat after a certain time - this is due to the fact that many anesthetics will not work or work as well on a full stomach. You need to listen to what your doctor or surgeon recommends also because if you don't they may tell you can have the surgery done or you may end up hurting yourself. They don't tell you the things for no reason that reason behind what they're telling and recommending to you.

If they tell you to drink plenty of water beforehand be sure and do that. Be sure and also tell them of any medicines that you are on or over the counter drugs that you are taking as these could also have negative consequences or implications with anesthesia or other treatments and drugs. For instance many drugs counteract and contradict one another so they need to know what you are on and what you have been taking. By lying to your doctor you are only shortchanging your self in the long run and you could seriously end up hurting yourself or ruining your results by withholding this information.

One other thing that you have to keep in mind in good plastic surgeons will tell you this is that any surgery does involve inherent risks. There are cases of a simple stomach fat removal procedure or a breast augmentation that could end in death. And it could be due to know wrongdoing on the part of the surgeon or physician. It could be due to any unknown allergy or the body's own immune system revolting or rejecting the surgery. In some cases it could be an underlying unknown condition like a heart defect that could cause one to go into an arrhythmia or heart attack out of nowhere.

This is also where flying to a far away country could also cause more problems as it is well known that flying has a greater chance of creating leg embolisms and these embolisms could dislodge or become more pronounced during surgery and all of a sudden a minor surgery becomes a major life-threatening surgery which the country or the hospital you are at may not even be able to handle. It's another reason why I do not recommend leaving the country for surgeries done abroad regardless of the cost savings.

So, to best prepare yourself for plastic surgery and similar skin care treatments which are done in office (like a deep TCA skin peel), it is best to do your homework and find doctors and surgeons that are very adept and routinely practice those surgeries or treatments you want done. It is also best to research the surgeries yourself and develop a better understanding of what actually the procedure is, the odds of the outcomes, and when you can truly expect as a result from the procedure. Remember it's your skin, it's your body after the surgery you have to live with the results. Only after you have properly research the doctor or surgeon and the procedure should you then proceed with having it done.
