Not only will smiling help make your face more youthful as you keep doing this, it will make your face glow. Ever wonder why pregnant women have a distinct glow or rosy appearance that can be quite desirable and attractive? Its due to their increased blood flow as a part of being pregnant. Well, the more you exercise key muscle groups in your face like the maxillofacial region the more rosy your appearance will become as blood flow is similarly increased. Smiling is also a great stress reducer. Its hard to stay mad about something for long when you are smiling. Besides, smiling feels good – and it will probably improve your social and business life and status as more people will see you in a new, friendlier and more interesting and approachable light.
The forehead area which usually is where large wrinkles and frown lines form is another major area that needs to be exercised. An excellent exercise for this area is to pull up or raise your eyebrows as high as possible and hold this position for 10 seconds. It also helps to pull a little to the left and right at 45 degree angles in a clock work motion to work the muscles that cover the sides of the forehead and temple regions. This is akin to altering regular sit ups a little to work in the obliques or sides of your stomach. These two exercises when done several times daily for a period of a few weeks to a month can give the effect of a face lift. For added effect flare your nostrils and tweak or crease your nose while doing this (this will help tone your nose and immediate facial area in addition to your forehead).

One cannot forget the neck muscles and region when doing facial exercises. This is the area where one can get that double chin or hanging fat that just ruins ones look. The best exercise for this are is isometrics (where you work one muscle group against another for maximum effect and resistance). What you want to do here is pull your neck forward and backward with the front neck muscles pulling as hard against the rear neck muscles. You also want to do this in a side to side motion working each side of your neck. This should be done for 10 hard repetitions where you exert maximum strength in each muscle group against the opposing muscle group. Another great exercise for tightening the neck area is to do the same isometric exercises, but in a more side to side motion as you keep your head straight and turn your head side to side at 90 degrees or as far as you can.
These three main exercises when done properly and over a period of time have been proven very effective in making ones self look years younger and are each highly effective at reducing stress. It’s like facial yoga – hold the positions and do the exercises with all your strength and watch the stress just melt away. You will not only look younger and feel better in your face, but everywhere as the reduced stress levels will make your whole body health that much better. Also, as an added bonus, when you can’t get out and run or go to the gym, apply these same isometric exercise principals to other areas, regions and muscle groups of the body. The sky’s the limit and your health will only benefit from this. As with any exercise regimen one should first check with their doctor and make sure these exercises are suitable for you.
